Charges have now been laid in connection with a shooting that took place in Lake Country earlier this month, police confirmed Tuesday.
Kenneth Brian Ralston, 59, is charged with attempted murder with a firearm in connection with the March 3 shooting of his housemate.
According to police, a 911 call was received at 7:45 p.m. that night after a 59-year-old man went to someone else’s home and asked the resident to call police on his behalf.
After arresting the man, they went to his house, located in the 10000-block of Highway 97, and found a person bleeding from an apparent gunshot wound to his right leg.
Police officers administered first aid to the 44-year-old victim until the ambulance arrived to take him to hospital, where he underwent surgery.
Police say the suspect and victim lived together in the same house. They have not disclosed a motive for the shooting.
Ralston has been released on $5,000 bail with a $2,500 deposit. He made a brief court appearance on the charge Tuesday and is scheduled to choose whether to be tried by provincial court judge, Supreme Court judge, or judge and jury at his next court appearance in Kelowna April 4.
