Avalanche alert ends, highway reopened between Rupert and Terrace

Highway 16 may be closed until 12 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31

The Ministry of Transportation shut down Highway 16 overnight between Prince Rupert and Terrace due to a high avalanche risk.

In the morning, DriveBC reopened the road but warned of minor delays due to snow removal.

DriveBC had posted at 8:26 p.m. Jan. 30 that the highway 13 km east of Port Edward and 35 km west of Terrace would be closed until noon Jan. 31.
