Backpackers have pack filled with gear stolen in Nanaimo

Alleged theft happened Sept. 2 at a business in the Old City Quarter

Two backpackers from Europe had a pack filled with gear and travel documents stolen last week in Nanaimo’s Old City Quarter.

According to a Nanaimo RCMP press release, two backpackers were visiting the Board Game House on Fitzwilliam Street on Sept. 2 at about 1 p.m. when the alleged theft occurred.

“The pack contained all of their supplies which included French passports, tent, cooking set, bear spray and their Canadian visas,” the press release noted.

An unknown male suspect may have been seen Sept. 3 on Wesley Street with the pack.
