The man charged with an alleged attack on a pizza delivery man is scheduled for a bail hearing in Penticton Provincial Court Thursday.
Dayne Douglas Jones, 27, is facing charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and one count of willfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer relating to events that occurred on Dec. 14.
Penticton RCMP reported earlier this week that a 35-year-old man suffered substantial injuries to his hands and face after he was attacked while making a pizza delivery to a residence on Westminster Avenue on the evening of Dec. 14. RCMP said the injured delivery man drove himself to the hospital after sustaining injuries after Jones allegedly attacked him with a box cutter.
According to court documents, Jones appeared in court briefly on Wednesday. Originally Jones faced two counts of aggravated assault, however Crown counsel entered a stay of proceedings on one count Wednesday. Jones was consent remanded until today (Thursday Dec. 17) where he will face a bail hearing.
Jones was sentenced in June to six months probation and fined $375 on the charge of mischief in an unrelated incident that occurred in February 2015.
Jones also pleaded guilty to an assault in October 2010 which garnered a sentence of 12 months probation with a three-year firearms prohibition. Jones has also pleaded guilty to charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle dating back to April 2008 and in November 2010 was found guilty of being in control of a vehicle with a blood alcohol level over .08.
