Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett has become parliamentary secretary for rural communities to the Community, Sport and Cultural Development Minister Ida Chong.
Premier Christy Clark made changes to the executive council and parliamentary secretaries effective Sept. 26.
Previously the parliamentary secretary for regional economic development to the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation, Barnett says she understands her new portfolio will cover all issues in rural communities.
“This is to me a great portfolio after my tour this summer as rural caucus chair and reporting all the issues in rural B.C.”
Now reporting to Chong, the local MLA says she believes her new job will deal with economics, health, education and all other rural issues under the one title.
