The BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure did not forget Port Alberni when it released its new 10-year transportation plan on Tuesday (March 17).
Minister Todd Stone said MoT has initiated a business case review to assess the costs and benefits of an alternate connection between the Island Highway (Hwy 19) and Port Alberni, “to improve mobility for motorists.” No other details were revealed.
Planning and design are in the works to realign and widen Highway 4 near Kennedy Lake, west of Port Alberni.
B.C. on the Move is the provincial government’s new 10-year plan for improving the province’s transportation network. It provides a road map for transportation investments and strategic policy actions over the next decade. The ministry will over the next three years invest up to $2.5 billion to improve BC’s transportation network.
