Although suspects are in custody in Kelowna, Midway RCMP are still receiving reports of break and enter events as people return home from vacation.

RCMP Cpl. Judson Mayes reported that the Midway detachment received a report of a break and enter on Fish Lake Road near Bridesville. According to Mayes, the property owner returned home from vacation and notice a smashed window to his vehicle and items missing.

The theft is believed to have happened the first or second week of April, and believed to be the work of a male and female who are currently in police custody in Kelowna.

The couple are allegedly responsible for a rash of break and enters and vehicle thefts in the Boundary region.

Police observed a suspicious vehicle in Rock Creek last Friday, April 17. The driver attempted to elude the officer by driving off onto a side road. When the vehicle eventually stopped, the RCMP officer found a male driving under a prohibited driving suspension.

The driver was arrested, given documents to appear in court in Grand Forks in June and then released. The vehicle was towed and impounded.

On Sunday, April 19, Midway RCMP received a report of an adult male only wearing shorts and running shoes, no shirt, on private property on Beaverdell Station road. Police report the he was scratched with minor cuts and abrasions and appeared to be under the influence of narcotics.

The individual was checked out by first responders from Beaverdell and deemed fit for a night in a cell at the Grand Forks RCMP Detachment, and released the next day when sober and not under the influence of drugs.

Midway RCMP would like to remind Boundary region residents to be aware while driving at dusk and in the early morning hours of the increased amount of wildlife (deer) that are on the highways. Travel with caution.

Mayes also issued a continued reminder for residents to lock their homes and vehicles. Lock it or lose it!
