B.C. Hydro workers were able to rescue a bear cub off a 50-foot pole in Port Hardy after they found it stuck at the top Saturday, May 28. Crews shut electricity to the pole off, then a worker was lifted toward the top using a cherry picker. Hydro workers posted a video of the rescue on Twitter on Thursday. The 30-second video shows the worker leaning out of the bucket, reaching toward the small bear. The bear was prodded a few times to encourage it to climb back down. The video is posted to the Gazette’s Facebook page.
