A black bear continues to terrify residents in Sooke’s Sunriver subdivision, this time standing off with local Mounties.
“He’s not afraid of anyone, which why we’re concerned,” said Sooke RCMP Cpl. Joe Holmes, adding officers went in with shotguns yesterday evening to attempt to scare the bear away, though no shots were fired.
Holmes pointed out the bear may be habituated to the local area and is possibly the same bear that spooked Sookies last year as well, though he could not confirm if this is the same animal or not.
