Beavers block culvert, flood Hwy 37

Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 25 calls for service from December 9th, 8 a.m. till December 10th, 8 a.m.

During the same time period, five people were lodged in Terrace cells – two of these people were lodged for intoxication.

Downtown Terrace

An upset man at the Cold Beer and Wine store on Lakelse Ave. Police spoke with the 37-year-old man. He was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and transported to Mills Memorial Hospital.

A group of men loitering on Lakelse Ave. The group dispersed prior to police attendance. Police observed the same man who was dealt with earlier in the night walking away as well.

Two false business alarms on Eby St. Same business.

An intoxicated man staggering into traffic on Lakelse Ave. Police arrested a 29-year-old man.

Elsewhere Terrace

Police stood by and kept the peace while a woman retrieved personal belongings.

Suspicious man entering a school on multiple occasions. Under investigation.

A warrant was issued for a 23-year-old man for failing to comply with probation.

While conducting stationary radar in a school zone on Halliwell Ave., police observed a red 2008 Toyota Yaris speeding. The vehicle was pulled over. The driver was prohibited from driving. The 45-year-old man was arrested and is held for court. The vehicle was impounded.

Warrants were issued for a 35-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man for failing to attend court.

A brown van passed a school bus with its stop sign and flashing lights activated on Munroe St.

Domestic assault inside of a moving vehicle on the Sande Overpass. Police arrested a 34-year-old woman. A man suffered minor injuries to his face. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

Familial dispute. Police spoke with the people involved. A resolution was reached.

Intoxicated man causing a disturbance at the Damp Shelter on Sparks St. The 46-year-old man was arrested.

Intoxicated woman lying on the sidewalk on Sparks St./Loen Ave. Police requested the assistance of BC Ambulance due to an injury on the woman’s face. Medical assistance was refused. The 41-year-old woman was arrested.

Domestic assault. Occurred sometime this summer. Under investigation.

Missing 17-year-old girl. Police located the girl and transported her to her residence.

Thornhill

An unsafe van at the Northern Motor Inn. More information could not be obtained.

False residential alarm on Hemlock St.

Missing 15-year-old girl. Police located the girl and transported her to her residence.

Theft from a service box in a white 2014 Ford truck parked in the 4500 block of Lowrie Ave. Numerous tools were stolen. Suspect vehicle may have been a red colored Dodge truck with a loud exhaust. The theft may have occurred yesterday at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Rural

Traffic hazard. A large amount of water crossing Hwy 37 near Furlong Bay. Police requested the assistance of Nechako Northcoast. A culvert was blocked by beavers causing the water to flood the road.

A young intoxicated couple walking on Hwy 16 near the Copper River Rd. Police spoke with the couple. They were sober. No issues.

Erratic driver on Hwy 16 in a blue Chevrolet Van. Checks were done of the area.

Kitsumkalum

Ministry of Children and Families requested police assistance at a residence. Police checked a residence. No issues.

Gitaus

Domestic assault. A woman suffered minor facial injuries. Under investigation.
