The Thompson-Nicola Regional District board of directors has approved spending up to $24,000 to improve energy efficiency at the Blue River Fire Hall.
The board made its decision during a meeting held in Kamloops on July 14.
The money for Thompson Headwaters (Electoral Area B) is coming from the federal Gas Tax – Community Works Fund.
The TNRD will enter into an agreement with Blue River Improvement District to carry out the project.
BRID owns the fire hall and provides fire protection to the community.
Proposed improvements include new heating equipment, upgrades of single-pane windows, lighting, and new insulation and siding along one side of the building.
Mountain bike trail gets funding
The TNRD board also approved spending $6,000 from federal Gas Tax revenues to fund a new section of the Candle Creek mountain bike trails network
The trails are n-ear Clearwater in Wells Gray Country (Electoral Area A).
The regional district will enter into an agreement with Wells Gray Outdoor Club to carry out the project.
