Boat show continually draws thousands to Kelowna’s shores

The Kelowna Yacht Club is once again preparing to host their annual Boat and Leisure Show.

The Kelowna Yacht Club is once again preparing to host their annual Boat and Leisure Show.

This free public event has been marking the beginning of spring for thousands of people from all over the Okanagan for two decades. The weekend show runs April 25th and 26th at their Water Street marina and opens at 10 a.m. each day.

“This is the first Boat Show with our new clubhouse” said Lisa McHaffie, chairperson of the Kelowna Yacht Club’s organizing committee.

“We’re absolutely thrilled that the public can not only come down and look at some fabulous boats, but we’re also opening our clubhouse so everyone can enjoy the views from the largest deck on Okanagan Lake while having a bite and beverage.”

Exhibitors’ fees help to maintain 32 mooring buoys that are anchored in strategic locations between the bridge and Caesar’s Landing. These provide safe and secure anchorage to all boaters out for the day, the weekend or sheltering from a storm.

“Our exhibitors will be showcasing all the new boats and gear, as well as offering special boat show pricing, so the April 25 weekend is really the best place and time to browse, compare and buy,” said McHaffie.

With the new clubhouse, the Okanagan’s  Zamboni Brothers, will once again be entertaining the crowds.

“They will be playing on our deck overlooking the marina, so members of the public can enjoy the music from the waterfront promenade or come upstairs for some food and drinks while enjoying the music and great views.”

Forty exhibitors will be displaying more than 150 boats, as well as twenty other exhibits, including the McLellan F1 race boat.

“The F1 is the highest class of inshore powerboat racers, and the boat will not only be on display but will also be making some demonstration runs in full view of the crowds,” said McHaffie.
