If you live in the Horsefly, Likely or Miocene areas you can expect a call from Cariboo North Independent MLA Bob Simpson Wednesday evening.
In what might be the first of its kind for a sitting MLA, Simpson is hosting a telephone town hall — similar to those the provincial government held on the HST.
Residents in the area will be invited to take part via a recorded telephone call from Simpson on Wednesday July 13.
Residents will be called back the next day, July 14, at 7 p.m. to join the “Tele-Town Hall” live with the MLA.
The town hall will focus on rural infrastructure issues in the Horsefly, Likely, Miocene area.
“This is an opportunity to try a new technology to see if it can be used as a tool to help me improve my representation of Cariboo North and to hear more directly from constituents about their issues and concerns,” Simpson said in a release, adding if it goes well he will continue to use the technology to confer with constituents.
He was careful to add that he would not use the technology as a substitute for visiting the riding’s rural communities.
