The body of a 43-year-old woman was discovered Monday morning in the alley behind Chances Casino, but foul play has been ruled out in the death, RCMP and BC Coroners Service officials said. RCMP were called to the casino sometime before 9:30 a.m. to find the woman deceased.
The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of the woman as Florence Jean Drake, aged 43, of Campbell River.
Drake was found unresponsive by a passersby near Chances Casino in Campbell River in the morning of April 27. Emergency services were called immediately, but she could not be resuscitated.
Their investigation determined the death was not suspicious in nature, and the case was remanded to the Coroners Service.
“The investigation is too preliminary for us to know much else at present, but we don’t believe it is anything suspicious,” BC Coroners Service spokesperson Barb McLintock said.
