Boil water advisory for Cloverdale

Broken water main may mean the water for the area has become contaminated.

If you live in Cloverdale or Clayton, don’t drink your tap water without taking a minute to boil it first.

That’s the warning from the City of Surrey after a water main broke in the area on Wednesday night.

The warning takes place until further notice, but the city expects to have the water main fixed in the next day or so.

Residents are advised to bring their water to a rapid, rolling boil for at least one minute prior to using it for domestic purposes, including drinking, making infant formula and juices, cooking, brushing teeth, washing raw foods and making ice. Alternatively, residents may use bottled water.

Updates will be available until the boil water advisory is cancelled.

The warning applies to the municipal water supply for the Cloverdale area 52 Avenue to the south, 72 Avenue to the north, 160 Street to the west and 196 Street to the west.
