The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) – Mabel Lake Water Utility (MLW) and Interior Health have issued a boil water notice.

Customers who receive Mabel Lake water at the Kingfisher end, near the golf course, are now on notice because, due to increasing water levels, the turbidity (cloudiness) has exceeded 5.0 NTU.

“As a result of the increased turbidity, the water quality is now rated as poor,” states the notice, which is in effect until further notice.

A poor rating means that all customers should exercise caution when using the water for consumption purposes.

Water intended for the following uses should be boiled for one minute:

*drinking;

*preparing any foods;

*washing fruits and vegetables;

*making beverages or ice;

*brushing teeth;

*preparing infant formula.

Customers will be informed when water quality returns to normal via road signs and a follow-up media release.

If you have any questions about this boil notice, please contact the RDNO at 250-550-3700 or check online at www.rdno.ca.
