Sometime in the early hours of Monday morning, thieves cut a hole in the roof of the Castlegar Dairy Queen and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.
The hole is not very big and the thieves would have needed a ladder to access the roof. They also damaged the safe where the cash was being kept, ripping off the door. Store owner Tim Kenna believes that the thieves may have been after the extra money collected during Thursday’s Miracle Treat Day, but fortunately it had already been removed from the premises.
Castlegar RCMP were called to the scene on Monday and continue to investigate. If anyone witnessed anything in the area they feel may be useful for police to know, please call the detachment at 250-365-7721.
