Break-in suspect arrested in Abbotsford within 3 minutes of call coming in

Patrol officers find hole cut in fence in 31800 block of Mercantile Way

Abbotsford Police arrested a break-in suspect within three minutes of being called on Friday morning (March 12).

Sgt. Judy Bird said police received a report at 6:09 a.m. that a break-in was in progress at a business in the 31800 block of Mercantile Way.

Patrol officers responded and found a large hole cut in a nearby fence, contained the area and found two men.

One of the men was released and the second man, who matched the description of the break-in suspect, was arrested.

Frederick Sebastian Dick, 37, of Mount Currie has now been charged with break-and-enter. According to the provincial court database, he has been released from custody, with his next court date set for April 6.

Dick has prior convictions for assault causing bodily harm, possession of a controlled substance, assault, uttering threats and breaching his conditions.
