Brief power outage in South Surrey

Thousands without power after early-morning issues

Thousands of South Surrey residents were briefly left in the dark early Monday morning due to a wire issue.

According to BC Hydro, approximately 12,000 customers in the area experienced “a very brief outage” just after midnight due to a downed wire near Highway 10 and 164 Street.

The 15-minute interruption to power was quickly fixed by crews who switched the electric load to another transmission line.
