Brookswood Baptist targeted by vandals

Extensive damage after fires and vandalism strike Langley church three times

Langley police are asking residents in the Brookswood area to be particularly vigilant after several arson and graffiti attacks on Brookswood Baptist Church.

Cpl. Holly Marks of Langley RCMP said that residents should look out for people acting suspiciously, and vehicles that look out of place. Anyone who sees suspicious people or activity around the church should call 911 immediately.

Brookswood has also recorded more incidents of mischief, she said.

One long-time resident told The Times that sign posts and bus stop benches have been spray painted with graffiti, too.

Police and the Township fire department have been called to the church on three occasions, twice after fires were deliberately set, and once to investigate graffiti that was spray painted on an outside wall.

The damage is extensive from the vandalism and fires which occurred on Feb. 12, 18 and 28.

The church is located 20581 36 Ave., in a rural part of Langley, and is close to Noel Booth Park.

Marks said that in each case, police found graffiti sprayed either on the inside or outside of the church.

Lower Mainland Forensic Identification Services and Police Dog Services were also called out to help with the investigation.
