Han Solo and Luke Skywalker may be in the new Star Wars movie, which just came out, but they couldn’t help the Rebels from Castlegar last night. The Grand Forks Border Bruins beat the visiting Castlegar Rebels 5-2 in KIJHL action Saturday.

The Bruins dominated play early taking a 4-0 lead after two periods on the strength of goals from Ryland Smaha-Muir, Logan Casavant (twice) and Trey Mason. A pair of goals from Tayden Woods early in the third brought Castlegar to within two but the Bears were able to put the game away with an insurance marker from Tyler Fyfe with 1:12 left in the game.

Anthony Galliart was in the net and stopped 22 of 24 Rebel shots.

The win came on the heels of a tough 2-1 loss against the division-leading Beaver Valley Nitehawks at home Friday night. The loss came after three straight wins against the power Nitehawks who only have five losses all season.
