“I’m a cultural language teacher. I teach Hul’qumi’num for Stz’uminus First Nation.”
What do you like most about your community?
“The people, and the quietness of our land. It’s away from city life, and it’s nice and quiet.”
What was your proudest or happiest moment?
“Just life itself, I guess. I’m proud to be First Nations. I’m proud to have my culture, my language and my family.”
What scares you more than anything else in the world?
“Not knowing. Uncertainty.”
If you were Empress of Vancouver Island, what would your first imperial proclamation be?
“I would love to see our hereditary system [of leadership] come back.”
