RCMP say someone shot at house from a railway overpass

Ridge Meadows RCMP are looking for a person who fired a gun at a Pitt Meadows house last week.

The shot was fired sometime between 12:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday, June 1 at a house just off Bonson Road in the Somerset subdivision.

Investigators believe someone used a handgun to shoot at the home from a nearby railroad overpass.

“This is very concerning to our community and our detachment. We do not have any suspects or motive as yet, but this appears to be a random act of indescribably serious mischief or criminal negligence,” said Insp. Dave Fleugel.

Investigators checked call logs and canvassed the neighbourhood, but were unable to find any witnesses or people who heard gun shots.

“We are happy no one was injured by this, and can reassure our citizens that something like this is a very, very rare occurrence in our community. We want to make our citizens aware of this investigation, and encourage the public to continue to call police if they hear, or see anyone who is threatening their safety,” Fleugel added.
