The weather behaved, enticing a moderate crowd to turn out for Saturday’s Keremeos Elks Rodeo events.
In spite of a less than stellar weather forecast that turned out to be better than predicted, a moderate crowd turned out Saturday to enjoy an afternoon of rodeo in Keremeos.
This year’s Saturday offerings represented a change from past years, when rodeo events were held on Saturday and Sunday, with the bulls and barrels feature taking place on Monday. This year, the rodeo events happen on Sunday and Monday, following the traditional Elks Rodeo Parade, which is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. along Seventh Avenue.
Levi Laulor of Quesnel finished in first place following the bull riding event Saturday, with 162 points.
An intermission show featured the Marron Valley Drill Team, with more than two dozen ladies competing in the barrels program Saturday afternoon.
There’s a dance at Victory Hall Saturday night, followed by the famous Fireman’s Pancake Breakfast in Memorial Park on Sunday and Monday.
Don’t forget Cowboy Church on Sunday in Memorial Park, and the Cattleman’s Steak Barbecue on Sunday beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Monday morning the 76th Elks Rodeo annual parade runs down Seventh Avenue, starting at 10:30 a.m.
