Bundle up this weekend – it’s going to be cold and wet

Strong wind, rain predicted

Environment Canada says Kitimat and Terrace can expect a bit of snow mixed in with some rain.

There’s a 60 per cent chance of flurries this afternoon, becoming windy late this afternoon with the mercury hovering at -2 with a wind chill of -9 degrees C.

Tonight may see heavy snow at times, between 10 and 20 cm, the wind north 30 km/h increasing to 40 to 60 with a wind chill heading in the double-negatives.

Saturday, January 4, will see either more snow or rain with a high of -1, with periods of snow on Sunday with a high of -2.

“Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow,” warns the agency.
