It’s the second unfortunate event to hit the eastside downtown storefronts this winter.
At noon on March 2, a burning car on Burrard Avenue led to downtown Vanderhoof closed off for a couple of hours.
Called to respond at 12:02 p.m., one fire engine and six firefighters arrived on scene in five minutes, and two 1 3/4-inch attack lines were used to extinguish the fire, fire chief Ian Leslie stated.
The vehicle suffered extensive damage, but no injuries were incurred.
According to a passerby on scene, the fire started burning from the bottom of the car and moved onto the engine.
Burrard Avenue was blocked temporarily with the assistance of Vanderhoof RCMP.
