Sentencing is scheduled for September for the now 17-year-old driver who pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident causing bodily harm to 25-year-old Molly Burton.

The hearing is set for Sept. 5 at 9 a.m in Courtenay.

Last week, a full gallery at the Courtenay courthouse heard during victim impact statements how four surgeries were required to clean the dirt and brambles from Burton’s wounds following a hit-and-run last year which has confined the Comox Valley resident to a wheelchair.

She suffered the injuries to her lower right leg and right arm when she was struck by a vehicle on Comox (Dyke) Road around 11:30 p.m. Sept. 11, 2013.

The driver cannot be named because of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. photos@comoxvalleyrecord.com
