Skiing and snowboarding may become some of the last sources of fun for Pentictonites as virtually everything shuts down due to COVID-19.
Apex Mountain Resort will stay open with no major changes for the foreseeable future, said general manager James Shalman.
Contrarily, Silver Star Mountain near Vernon has implemented crowd control procedures to limit the spread of the virus.

Apex Mountain Resort plans to carry out operations as usual, although they are taking extra precautions to sanitize all facilities.
“If there’s a place to go right now that’s safe a ski area is probably your best bet,” said Shalman.
“Everyone’s wearing gloves and goggles, sometimes face masks, and everyone is out in the fresh air.”
Shalman said mountain-goers are currently reveling in excellent conditions with over 20 centimetres of fresh powder at Apex.
However, the ski-school team is down a few bodies. Two ski instructors from Denmark were ordered to return home by their country due to COVID-19.
Today (March 14) Apex Mountain will hold a memorial run for the late Canadian National Team freestyle skier Brayden Kuroda. The event will commence at 1:30 p.m. at the top of Kristi’s Run.
