The council has launched a regional innovation tour, which is coming to Castlegar on Thursday, Feb. 16.

“The BC Innovation Council’s mandate is to encourage economic growth across the province through innovation. We connect innovators and companies that need business challenges to be solved with innovation. This is a key part of the work we do,” says Carl Anderson, president and CEO of the council. “We want to build a stronger network of technology companies throughout the province.”

The event will take place at the Applied Research & Innovation Centre from 12:15 to 4:15 p.m. and will give regional companies a chance to showcase what they do and seek innovative solutions for challenges they are facing.

Companies from outside the region will also give presentations, allowing local tech companies the opportunity to offer solutions.

“This event is an opportunity for local businesses to collaborate with larger companies, government and entrepreneurs and propose solutions to their business challenges to growth,” says Anderson. ”This provides companies in each community with an immediate market that could be translated into a national, and ultimately a worldwide market.”
