Three incidents over the weekend kept Revelstoke Search & Rescue busy, but fortunately they didn’t result in serious consequences.

Revelstoke SAR search manager Wally Mohn said SAR members responded to a report of a possible burial in an avalanche in an area somewhat north of town on Mar. 16. Mohn didn’t have details on the exact location. A helicopter was dispatched to the location but the incident turned out to be a false alarm — nobody was buried in the avalanche. A further 16 Parks Canada and Selkirk Tangiers Heli-Skiing staff were on standby to respond.

Also on Saturday, Revelstoke SAR responded to aid a snowmobiler who fractured his arm  when he crashing his snowmobile in the Eagle Pass area. He was transferred to Revelstoke by helicopter and then turned over to BCAS paramedics.

In another Saturday incident, Revelstoke SAR responded to reports of a man who went missing after venturing out of bounds at Revelstoke Mountain Resort. The man eventually walked out of the bush into the Greeley area. He was not injured.
