It will be something to crow about.
So says the motto for this year’s Bulkley Valley Exhibition, which officially begins Wednesday at 7 p.m. with the Fall Fair Parade.
The Exhibition then starts in earnest on Aug. 25 and runs to Sunday, Aug. 28.
As always the events take place at the Fairgrounds at the end of Pacific Street off Tatlow.
The fair will be filled with old favourites as well as some returning classics.
“We’ve got lots of new energy this year and it’s really exciting to see the community continuing to support this event,” said B.V. Exhibition President Lindsay Heer.
This year the Fall Fair Committee has dedicated the 2011 fair to a departed friend, Graeme Johnstone.
Johnstone, a long-serving member of the committee, passed away earlier this year.
“He helped in every area of the the fair and we’re definitely missing him this year,” said Heer.
Being a first-time president, Heer said he was a great help as she figured out her position.
“[A] really sweet man and super knowledgeable and just fun and energetic.”
Among the many new events this year are chicken herding and a chicken obstacle course, which should be a real fun event.
There will also be a variety show on Thursday night with a hypnotist and a group called The Time Benders.
Heer also wanted to recognize the hard work of everyone — volunteers, staff and sponsors — who helps put the fair together.
“They’re the ones who make the fair. Without them there would be none.”
Also make sure to keep an eye out on the Fair’s new mascot, the rooster, designed by Fabrications and Luke Moisey.
The bird will be a reminder that this fair is, truly, something to crow about.
