Bulkley Valley Christian School is no longer under lockdown but does have heightened security for today and going forward.
Principal Chris Steenhof said students Friday morning reported a threatening man outside the schoolyard who appeared to have a firearm. He said the school was quickly put on lockdown and Smithers RCMP were called in.
Police swept the area and assured staff the school is now safe.
Students will be sent home at the normal time and parents do not need to pick anyone up, according to Steenhof.
