Cache Creek Volunteer Fire Department chief Clayton Cassidy, who was lost during flooding in the community in 2017, was honoured in Ottawa on September 9.
Members of Cassidy’s family, along with representatives from the Fire Chief’s Association of B.C., participated in the 15th annual Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation memorial ceremony in Ottawa, where Chief Cassidy was commemorated.
The ceremony took place on Firefighters’ National Memorial Day, which in 2017 was established by the Federal government and which takes place on the second Sunday in September. On that day, Canadian flags are to be flown at half-mast to honour and recognize firefighters across Canada for their sacrifice, dedication, and bravery.
