The Camosun Community Association could dissolve permanently if no one steps up to take on key positions, says its past president.
“I think that we’re actually the smallest community association in Saanich,” said Michael Crowe, who served as CCA’s president for six years until 2012.
The CCA covers Saanich residents in the most southerly pocket of the District around Royal Jubilee Hospital, and extends north to Mt. Tolmie through the Shelbourne and Richmond Road corridors (see map).
New board members are needed to oversee land use and treasury, among other roles, Crowe said. But so far, attendance and participation isn’t up to snuff despite support from a few long-term volunteers
“It cannot be the same people all the time and I just don’t have time anymore,” Crowe said.
The CCA is having its annual general meeting on April 16 at 7 p.m. at Lansdowne middle school.
The theme of the meeting, appropriately, is The Future of the Association. If the community association does fold, remaining funds will go towards another association or into District of Saanich programs, Crowe said.
