Campbell River Indian Band administration office to open with a blessing ceremony Monday

Residents and visitors alike have watched the construction of an architecturally unique building on the Old Spit Road

Over the past year, residents and visitors alike have watched the construction of an architecturally unique building on the Old Spit Road in downtown Campbell River.  The Campbell River Indian Band will be blessing the building, an 8000 square feet administration hub, on Monday, May 11 at 10:30 a.m.

The ceremonial blessing of the building and the Council Chamber table will be the precursor to the official start of administrative and program operations at the new site.  The building is characterized by the innovative and meaningful exterior art design by Mark Henderson; four traditional Coppers designed by Greg Henderson on the doors to the Council Chamber; and a hand carved Council table by Jr. Henderson.  These pieces reflect the important commitment to Laichwiltach culture and tradition mingled with state of the art technical and operational facilities.  Built by Ketza Pacific Construction, the building is expected to meet the Administrative needs of the Band for some time.
