The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations have released regulations regarding campfires as warmer temperatures have more people venturing outside.
A campfire can be no larger than 0.5 metres high by 0.5 metres wide and must never be left unattended. Regulations stipulate that either eight litres of water or a shovel be nearby to extinguish the fire, and a firebreak created by scraping down to the dirt one metre, must surround the fire. Finally, before leaving the area, the campfire must be fully extinguished and the ashes must be cool to the touch.
Anyone violating campfire regulations may be subject to a fine of $1,150.
