Canada 150 grants will provide $7.6 million in funding to more than 220 projects in 150 communities throughout B.C. this year.
The recipients were announced on Sunday, April 2, by Surrey-Cloverdale MLA Stephanie Cadieux at the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Society in Cloverdale.
The railway society was among those awarded a grant. They received $50,000 towards the restoration and rehabilitation of the Royal ‘Connaught’ interurban car.
Another Cloverdale-based organization, the BC Vintage Truck Museum, was given $50,000 through the program for an expansion project, and the Surrey India Arts Club Society received $20,000 in celebration of their 25th anniversary.
They are among the 221 projects throughout B.C. that will receive funding through the program. The grant money is administered by the BC Museums Association and is supported by Heritage BC, with funding provided by the provincial government.
The program funds projects that will create legacies reflecting B.C.’s unique and diverse histories and cultures.
