Free family fun is being promised at this year’s Canada Day celebrations in Quesnel that will be held virtually.
Event coordinator with the City of Quesnel and Cariboo Regional District, Charlene Lawrence said there would also be surprises and $1,000 in prizes up for grabs on Thursday, July 1.
The virtual Zoom doors are set to open at 5 p.m. with Juno-nominated children’s entertainer Will Stroet providing a 30-minute performance.

Approximately two hours of music bingo featuring Canadian artists will follow, starting at 6 p.m.
“We did a virtual bingo with the Quesnel Special Olympics, and we had our grandkids here, and they had such a fantastic time,” Lawrence said.
“They engaged them; it was so fun.”
Lawrence said she and her own family would be participating in the virtual celebrations outside on their patio and encourages other families to register.
In-person registration is available until noon Wednesday, June 30 by visiting the Quesnel Arts and Recreation Centre or phoning 250-992-8200. You can also register online at bit.ly/2TQeHeH
Two free music bingo cards and a Zoom link will be emailed to registrants. Additional cards can be purchased for $5 at bit.ly/3v60eZ5
Bingo cards will be able to be redeemed for a free Canada Day cookie at the Quesnel Bakery from July 2 to July 7.
