The Carleton Place Canadians will meet the Yorkton Terriers in the finals of the Royal Bank Cup National Junior A Hockey Championship.
The Canadians edged the Dauphin Kings 5-3 Saturday night.
Anthony McVeigh opened the scoring for the Canadians. Kelly Summers and Rowan Savidant picked up the assists 2:35 into the first.
Dauphin’s Dylan Butler tied it while shorthanded at 11:58, he was named player of the game.
Five minutes later, Tanner Butler gave the Kings the lead, as he scored from Jesse Bernard and Brent Wold at 16:41 in the first period.
Carleton’s Luke Edwards scored his second of the tournament from Andy Sturtz and Craig Pefley, 2:10 into the second frame.
Brayden Cuthbert tied it 10 minutes later from Bernard and Brett Hope.
The Canadians skilled forward Sturtz got his first goal of the RBC Cup 40 seconds later from Stephen Baylis and Brett D’Andrea. Sturtz was named player of the game.
Dylan Gareau broke the tie in the third period from Sturtz at 10:43, giving the Canadians a 4-3 lead.
McVeigh added an empty-netter with 10 seconds left.
Carleton has never played in a RBC Cup final.
