Despite the public warnings about not leaving your dog exposed to the Okanagan summer heat in your vehicle, Tracy Sorbo was upset to see someone else ignoring that advice this afternoon.
While shopping with her family, Sorbo came across the large breed dog sitting in the back of a pickup with Alberta license plates.
After alerting staff at the store, public announcements for the owner of the truck to come forward elicited no response. Meanwhile, Sorbo along with other shoppers were giving the dog water, four bowls full in total while the dog sat in the 30-plus Celsius heat waiting for its owner to return.
When the owner did return, Sorbo approached him about exposing his dog to the heat but says he brushed her off and told her to stay away from his dog before leaving.
“I was just shocked that people would do something like that,” Sorbo said.
She said the police were contacted and passed by the truck but did not stop, possibly because the dog was outside rather than inside the truck.
