Members of the K’ómoks First Nation greeted visitors at K’omoks Beach on Dyke Road Wednesday during the Tribal Canoe Journeys.
More than 90 canoe families from Indigenous Nations across B.C. and and other regions such as Alaska and California made the journey aboard traditional hand-carved canoes.
Tribal Canoe Journeys aims to strengthen relationships between the peoples of the Pacific Northwest while demonstrating to Indigenous youth the importance of maintaining a lifelong connection to their heritage, land and ocean.
The Nations will commemorate the journey Saturday in Campbell River.
Festivities run until Thursday, Aug. 10.
