Car collides with pickup truck on Hwy 16 East

Luckily nobody was injured in this latest crash along the Highway of Tears

The Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 74 calls for service from January 10th, 8 AM till January 11th, 8 AM. During the same time period there have been 18 people lodged in Terrace Cells. Eleven of these people were lodged for public intoxication.

Credit card fraud. A woman was contacted by a store in Montreal to confirm an on line purchase that seemed suspicious. The woman had never made this purchase. Checks determined that the credit card was falsely used on one other transaction. The credit card number and personal details of the credit card holder were being used to make these purchases. The credit card was cancelled and the bank’s security division are investigating the matter.

Police assisted the Terrace Fire Department with a fire at the Rainbow Inn on Hwy 16. A man escaped through a back window by breaking it with a chair. He was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital by BC Ambulance for treatment of smoke inhalation and cuts sustained from his escape. The curtains had caught fire from cooking on the stove. Police have turned this matter over to the Terrace Fire Department.

A blue 1996 Ford F 250 was struck by a red 2013 Dodge Dart on River Dr/Hwy 16 East. The Dodge sustained serious damage and was towed. No injuries.

Domestic Assault. A 29 yr old man and a 28 yr old woman were both arrested for assault with a weapon. Both suffered minor injuries. The man was violent when he was being booked in and caused damage to property. An amount of drugs were seized from the residence. Under investigation.

Break and enter to the Skeena Golf Course. Police arrested a 16 yr old boy. Under investigation.

An intoxicated 51 yr old woman vandalized a grey 2010 Chevrolet Silverado with a shovel on Gyiik Rd. The woman also assaulted a person. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

Argument over the TV Remote. Police spoke with the people involved and came to a resolution.

Domestic assault. A 29 yr old man assaulted a woman then attempted to break down a door to gain access into a residence. He was arrested and charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

BC Ambulance reported a gas leak from a residence on Pear St with an unresponsive man inside of the residence. Terrace Fire Department attended to assist. Emergency personnel were unable to rouse the man. Police entered via an unlocked window and woke the man up who had passed out in front of his laptop with the assistance of alcohol. The 28 yr old man was assessed and was fine. A small gas leak was coming from the gas meter and BC Hydro was notified.

Familial dispute. A 27 yr old man wanted money and was denied. This led to a fight. The 27 yr old was struck in the head with a bat. He then stole an ATV and fled. Police located the ATV a short distance away abandoned. Police Service Dog Rook tracked the man and he was arrested and transported to Mills Memorial Hospital for assessment. He did not have any injuries. The people involved in the incident were not cooperative with police.

Dine and dash at Pizza Hut. Under investigation.

A 44 yr old man and 40 yr old men were drinking alcohol together. The 40 yr old struck the 44 yr old over the head with a metal object. The 44 yr old was highly intoxicated at the time of the incident. Under investigation.
