Car fire stopped as it spread toward house

Kelowna Fire Department would like to remind people to check that they have working smoke detectors on every floor.

At approximately 7: 45 a.m. Kelowna Fire Department dispatch received a number of 911 calls reporting a car fire in the 700 block of Kuipers Crescent  was spreading to a nearby house  house.

“Engine four was the first arriving truck and quickly knocked down the fire. They made entry to the house to check for extension and found no problems. No one was home at the time,” said Eric Simpson, platoon captain of the Kelowna Fire Dept.

The fire department responded with three engine companies a rescue truck and a command vehicle to the scene.
