Car nose dives into Mac’s lot

Police say alcohol a factor in last Saturday's crash

Police say alcohol was a factor in an early morning crash that left a red Nissan 240 nose down in the Mac’s parking lot at Sooke and Jacklin roads last Saturday.

Cpl. Kathy Rochlitz, spokesperson for the West Shore RCMP, said the car was travelling on Sooke road at approximately 2 a.m. on August 16 before it crossed several lanes of traffic, went over the sidewalk and down into the parking lot. Investigators are looking in to whether the driver sideswiped another car before crashing. Officers were at the scene a few moments after the crash, though Rochlitz said it was not a pursuit.

The male driver, who was alone in the car, was taken to hospital by ambulance for minor injuries.

Police are considering charges of impaired driving.
