The Carleton Place Canadians improved to 2-1-0 after a 4-2 win over the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots at the Royal Bank Cup Tuesday afternoon at Kal Tire Place.
Vinny Post opened the scoring for the Eastern Fred Page Cup champ Canadians 1:22 in the first from Craig Pefley. Post has scored in all of the Canadians games.
Post later left the game with a broken leg.
Andreas Tsogkas got the Patriots (1-2-0) on the board 17:32 in the second from Rory Bell.
The Canadians regained the lead when Anthony Latina scored from Luke Edwards and Brett D’Andrea 18:31 into the second.
Nearly a minute later, D’Andrea was at it again. This time scoring on the powerplay from Andy Sturtz and Kelly Summers. D’Anrea’s goal moved the Canadians a step closer to the semifinals of the National Junior A Hockey Championship.
Edwards added the insurance for the Canadians 12:19 into the third from D’Andrea and Larry Smith.
The Dudley Hewitt Cup champ Patriots cut the lead in half when Marcus Rose scored on the powerplay from Niko Kovachis and Jacob Hayhurst.
Carleton sits second in RBC Cup standings, while the Patriots are in fourth.
