Mission’s Carly Rae Jepsen graced the red carpet for the first time at the 55th annual Grammy Awards Sunday night, where she was nominated in two categories.
The 27-year-old local songstress has had an hugely successful year with her hit single Call Me Maybe, and has toured internationally, and won accolades across the globe.
Call Me Maybe was up for Song of the Year honours, against stiff competition which included The A Team, by Ed Sheeran, and Adorn by Miguel Pimentel. Fun’s We Are Young won the category.
Jepsen was also in the running for Best Pop Solo Performance, alongside Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry and Rihanna, but Adele, with Set Fire to the Rain, took the trophy.
Call Me Maybe earned top spot in the Canadian charts in 2012, and in the United States, the song climbed to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Pop Songs chart. In addition, the massively popular tune is one of the best-selling digital singles of all time with more than 10 million copies sold.
Jepsen was in Mission in December playing a free concert to local fans at the Clarke Theatre.
