The Parksville Community and Conference Centre is marking its 15th anniversary next month with a free carnival day and recognition dinner.
“It’s just a fun day for everyone, a way to thank the community,” said executive director Margaret Spruit.
“It’s definitely a community building, built by the people of the community with lots of donations and volunteers,” she said.
She said it was built after the old hall was torn down, as a joint project with, then Malaspina University and the city, led by a committee of community people and then given back to the city.
It was built around the gym of a middle school, which became the main PCCC auditorium and is now run by a non-profit society.
The festivities the next day, Saturday, June 20, will include everything from a Lioness cake walk and booths from community groups like the Society of Organized Services, to a blow-up obstacle course from Riptide Mini Golf and various fun games and activities for the whole family.
There will be live music from three different bands throughout the day, hot dogs provided by Rotary and fun for the kids, like face painting.
