Cars go up in flames on Highway 16

A Nov. 11 accident on Highway 16 caused two vehicles to catch fire between Prince Rupert and Terrace

Two vehicles caught fire after an accident occurred on Highway 16 on the morning of Friday, Nov. 11.

Photos circulating social media show the cars on fire in the middle of the highway and later taken off to the side of the road. The accident occurred on a stretch of highway between Prince Rupert and Terrace near a suspension bridge and it’s not yet confirmed what caused the fires.

Prince Rupert RCMP could not be reached for comment before this week’s press deadline, but anyone with information is asked to phone the detachment in Prince Rupert at 250-627-0700 or they can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
