Golf cart rollover accident at Predator Ridge Golf Resort kills Alberta man

A golf cart rollover accident Thursday night at Predator Ridge Golf Resort killed one middle-aged Alberta man and injured another.

Glenn Thordarson, 51, of Edmonton, was killed while a second Alberta man in the cart, 44, from Calgary, was taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital. He was released Friday.

The accident, which remains under investigation, happened at around 7:15 p.m.

“Information police have learned from a witness nearby is the cart hit a retaining wall, then turned, went over an embankment and rolled down approximately 20 feet to a road below,” said Vernon RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.

Emergency officials at the scene confirmed Thordarson died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

Thordarson was the CEO of Milltech Millwork Ltd., an architectural woodwork firm.

The RCMP is continuing to investigate all aspects of the crash.

“As of Friday, we are busy following up on everything from who was driving the cart, was alcohol involved, was the cart mechanically sound,” said Molendyk.

Police have seized the golf cart and will inspect it, while an RCMP crash analyst has been called in to help with the investigation.

On its website, Predator Ridge released the following statement: “The entire staff and organization of Predator Ridge Resort is saddened by this loss and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the deceased.”
