Cash was stolen from three stores in Maple Ridge during three separate robberies that happened in a span of two days this week.
The latest hold-up took place on North Avenue at Fraser Street just before 2 p.m.
Insp. Dave Fluegel said a man entered the North Street Food Market, produced “an edged-weapon” and threatened the clerk on duty.
The man left with lottery tickets, including scratch-and-win cards, and a small amount of cash.
Fluegel said officers responded quickly and detained a man who matched the description of the thief.
Ten hours earlier, around 2:30 a.m., a man walked into a 7-Eleven store on the Lougheed Highway at Laity Street and brandished a knife.
He managed to take a small amount of cash from the till and ran out of the store. He was last seen heading east along the highway.
He is described as a white man between 5-7 and 5-11 with a medium build, dirty, dark, unwashed hair to the bottom of his ears and scruffy facial hair. He was wearing dirty blue jeans and a black zip-up hooded sweatshirt.
Six hours earlier, a man managed to steal money from a till at Dollar Giant on 207th Street around 8 p.m. Wednesday, before riding away on a bicycle.
The suspect is described as a white man in his 20s, approximately 6-0. He was wearing beige track pants and a brown long-sleeve track suit. He was last seen heading south towards the Lougheed Highway.

Pepper sprayed
Police are looking for a man who pepper sprayed another man in an apartment building on Tuesday.
The assault took place around 11:20 p.m. on McIntosh Avenue in Maple Ridge.
The man had just entered the building lobby when someone deployed pepper spray.
Police said the man who was sprayed managed to get to his apartment and call 911. Police are asking for any witnesses to call 604-463-6251.
Prolific offenders
Ridge Meadows RCMP have charged two men and two women, all known to police for property crimes, under the Trespass Act after they were found on First Nations land without permission.
A Mountie patrolling Lougheed Highway in east Maple Ridge around 11 a.m. checked the property and found a rental van parked in the driveway.
On further investigation, he found the quartet who were trying move a truck that was stuck in some mud.
Cpl. Alanna Dunlop said police do not know why the truck was on the property.
The four suspects were allowed to leave, after receiving violation tickets. The rental van and the truck were both towed.
Teen driver crashes
Police are looking at possible charge against a teenager who crashed his car in Maple Ridge Tuesday night.
The 17-year-old was driving on 112th Avenue around 12:20 p.m. when he lost control of his 1991 Honda Civic.
The car went off the road into the nearby forested area.
The driver received non-life threatening injuries and had to be taken to hospital by the B.C. Ambulance Service.
Police are considering a charge of driving without due care and attention.
Stolen car
Ridge Meadows RCMP are looking for a black 1997 BMW 740i that was stolen from a parking lot at Maple Ridge park.
The theft took place sometime between 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 6.
The car had British Columbia licence plates 950TEF on it at the time of the theft.
